Why Mirrova

You shouldn't have to hand over your identity just to say hello.

Most messaging apps start by asking for your phone number. That number follows you everywhere. It links your accounts, reveals more than you intended and stays with every person you've ever messaged.

We believe people should be able to communicate without having to share their phone number or personal identity. Mirrova is designed so you decide who reaches you, and how much of yourself each person sees.

Think of how you already live: friends see your relaxed side, colleagues see your work profile, and someone you just met gets a short introduction. Mirrova is designed to work the same way. A new contact sees only a limited intro identity until you choose to share more.

Privacy is not a feature. It's the starting point.

What we're building

Built around people, not phone numbers.

Connect without sharing your phone number.

Mirrova is designed so you connect with a username, link or QR code instead of your number or email.

Keep different relationships and identities separate.

We're building Mirrova so each relationship sees only the identity you choose for it.

Choose who can reach you.

New contacts are designed to ask first, so nothing reaches you until you accept.

Privacy & security philosophy

Principles we design by.

These are the commitments that guide our work. They describe our goals, not a finished or independently verified product.

  1. 01

    Collect as little as possible

If we don't need a piece of data, we aim not to ask for it.

  2. 02

    Open standards over secret ones

We're building end-to-end encryption on published standards, the IETF's MLS protocol (RFC 9420) via the OpenMLS library, rather than inventing our own cryptography.

  3. 03

    You control who reaches you

Mirrova is designed so new contacts ask first, and nothing lands in your inbox until you accept.

  4. 04

    Honest about limits

No app can protect against every threat. We'll describe what Mirrova does and doesn't protect clearly, and we plan an independent security review before public launch.

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly.

When will Mirrova be available?

Mirrova is under active development and isn't publicly available yet. We don't have a release date to share, and we'll post updates on this site.

Do I need a phone number?

No. Mirrova is designed so you can sign up and connect with a username instead of a phone number or email address.

How does Mirrova approach privacy?

We aim to collect as little data as possible and to give you control over who can reach you and which identity each person sees. A full privacy policy will be published before launch.

Is it end-to-end encrypted?

End-to-end encryption is a core part of the architecture we're building, based on the open MLS standard (RFC 9420) and the OpenMLS library. It's still under development and hasn't been independently reviewed yet. We plan a review before public launch.

Which platforms will it support?

Android is the first platform in development. We plan to add iOS after that.
